Thoughts on 2012

New Years day is a special day for me. It is my parents wedding Anniversary and a day when all our family strive to spend the day together. It is one of the most favourite days of my year...even better that it is at the beginning.
Mum and Dad celebrated 57 years together..what an achievement, and still seem to be so happy together (at least it seems that way).
They have always shown myself my sister and brother so much love and support that I feel truly blessed. Thank you so much x.

My son and daughter, my nieces, my great niece and my grandson.

2011 though not awful by any means was very flat, and this year I resolve to be more positive and make the most of my life and appreciate the many blessings I have.
I also want to try and make this blog a sort of diary to keep me motivated.

I have a new baby grandson due to arrive in about a month which I am so looking forward to. I am sure he will be as wonderful as my first grandson Jordan.

My son and his girlfriend are due to move into my home in Kent. They were actually due to move in last week but things did not go as planned and it has been delayed. I know that they are so excited about this and I look forward in helping them move in, although it will be strange for me to see them changing my old home where we spent many happy times.

I also look forward to spending time with my crafty friends, both in Kent and Colchester.

I will not bore you with my resolutions for the year, but one of them is to make the most of every day and try to do something constructive with it.

Today was the tidying up of the front garden. A small job that had been put off for too long. It went from this...

To this..

Also DB is repairing the ballcock in the downstairs loo, this has been broken for about a month and has been mighty inconvenient, (pardon the pun).

Sorry about the long post..well done for making it to the end.

Laurie x

Lovely evening

Oh dear, I have got so behind on my blogging....

In late October we went away for a long weekend and had such a great time. Alas the photos are still on the camera waiting to be downloaded and shared. Will do it soon.

In the meantime, the nights are drawing in now the clocks have gone back, but there are still some lovely sunsets. ( Excuse the washing line !)

Late September

An Indian Summer... so hot, up in the 80's most days. Too hot for Izzy even quite early in the morning so I took Kallie for walk.

Most of the field has been cut back and it feels like a different place.
Although the weather is so hot it was a misty morning, the sun came up and I was privileged to see this beautiful landscape.

The beginning of September saw some lovely weather, whilst out walking in the field I saw these acorns and just had to get a picture.

The field has by now got very overgrown and old hawkeye spotted these lizards basking in the sun.

August

At the end of August our grandson came to stay for a few days.

Typically the weather was grotty- cold and rainy. We visited Cudmore Park on Mersea Island. Matt and Jordan spent some time skimming stones.

Just as we were getting ready to go home the sun came out...

And we managed to eat our lunch 'al fresco'.

June

Because Kallie isnt very well behaved and once off lead would run off never to return,
we walk the dogs in a large contained field near to where we live.

All sorts of wildlife abound and back in June there were lots of these...

We found out that they are 5 spot Burdett Moths.

Aren't they beautiful ?

The Beginning

Some time ago I had an idea to blog events other than crafting that seemed worthy of a mention.
Matt and I love to walk the dogs and look at the nature around us.

I thought it would be good to record these things and some of our everyday life events.

The best place to start will probably be the dogs. I have had Izzy for just over 3 years. She is a lovely laid back black greyhound with a very delicate and sweet nature. Contrary to popular belief greyhounds do not need a lot of excercise and lounge the day away on the nearest sofa.

Matt has always had Dobermanns, and we rescued Kallie back in February. He wanted a dog that was a bit livelier than Izzy.....he should have been careful what he wished for ! For all of Izzys quietness and gentleness we have Kallie charging around like a bulldozer ! Talk about chalk and cheese !

I think the pictures tell the story.
